Application Example:  Flame & Safety

We were called upon to assist a customer serving the semiconductor industry.  As specific elements or compounds are removed from the wafer, gas from vaporized chemicals can create flash fires when the quantity is sufficient to interact with heat sources.  Flash fires generate small explosions that are dangerous for personnel and equipment.  Our detectors are extremely sensitive and can detect minute levels of gas before any build-up can occur.  The customer was able to develop an instrument using our detectors to provide an early warning system of gas build ups before they became dangerous.   Our detectors exceeded all other companies to meet the required sensitivity and reliability.

An existing customer was using a 72 LED array with three distinct wavelengths in order to control the flow of material through a sorting system while also removing contaminants. The highly competitive nature of their business required they use lower power, higher efficiency die as well as have shorter lead times to meet the almost instantaneous demands of their customers. Working collaboratively, we were able to improve the performance of the array by 20% as well as reduce the lead time from 12 weeks to 4 weeks.

A global leader in the medical gas analysis marketplace, required a more sensitive early detection system for  any change in a patients’ respiratory status in the operating room.  We created a capnography detector that had the fastest response time, consistent performance and  high sensitivity to trace gases, which exceeded the original requirements. It allowed the customer to capture additional market share on the new value added feature set. By understanding the market and the customer’s requirements fully, we were able to be an extension of the engineering team and provide a higher performance product.

Application Example:  Military

A military sub-contractor came to us in order to create an infrared spot light on a tactical aircraft for night vision illumination during covert operations. We identified the wavelength that would provide the greatest consistency and light output when combined with night vision equipment and designed optics to focus the light in a pattern that would illuminate the target area for both the pilots and any additional personnel disembarking the aircraft under hostile conditions. We were able to do rigorous testing of the array using specialized intensity and wavelength equipment as well as rapid prototype lensing for the dispersion pattern in order to deliver the precise solution to the customer challenge.
